Due to the fact that one of the event organizers has been going through some health issues has made the planning and organization of the event fall behind schedule. The River City Sports Festival has made the decision to cancel the 2015 event as we want to ensure that we are putting the best program out there for the participants and the spectators. At this time the organizers of the River City Sports Festival have decided that they can’t present the type of program that we want to be known for and have cancelled the 2015 River City Sports Festival. In 2016 the River City Sports Festival will be back bigger and stronger than before and an announcement on dates will be made in the next few months.

We apologize for any inconvenience this decision may cause you and your family.

Thank you for your understanding.

Ronin' Productions announce second annual River City Sports Festival in Mason City, Iowa to be held August 8-9, 2015

The River City Sports Festival will feature amateur competitions for individuals and teams, including softball and wrestling. The events will be held at the North Iowa Community College complex with Mason City Parks and Recreation hosting the Softball tournament.

The event is being promoted by Ronin' Productions, LLC whose Chairman Kazuo "Sonny" Onoo is a resident of the Mason City, Iowa area and has been searching for this type of event to showcase his hometown for a number of years. This event has the potential to really grow the pool of amateur athletes in the community and make Mason City more of a destination for sports enthusiasts. The goal of Ronin' Productions is to make this an annual event in the area and to grow the event to a level achieved by other multi-sport events such as "The Arnold" and "Mr. Olympia."

Each event will be run by a Director who has run other tournaments in their specific sport on a local, regional and national level. The events are being forecasted as a who's who of the amateur sporting world in the states and areas that surround Mason City.

Ronin' Productions is also working with the Visit Mason City Visitors Bureau on this annual event. The project is sponsored in part by the Iowa Economic Development Authority and the North Iowa Sports Authority. Sue Armour, Executive Director of the Visit Mason City Visitors Bureau echoed everyone else in the excitement for the event, "This is a great event for the Mason City area and we believe will be a great event to showcase our city."

This project is sponsored in part by the Iowa Economic Development Authority and the North Iowa Sports Authority.
